The North Devon Mini Register is used to breaking records. Each year it manages to smash its previous record for money raised for the Children's Hospice South West. This year it also smashed the record for the longest Mini convoy (310 Minis - subject to confirmation by the Guinness World Records]. The August Bank Holiday weekend run was blessed with good weather, although previous heavy rain caused one planned stop to be cancelled. Faced with a last-minute problem of where to park 300-plus Minis on the Sunday afternoon, organiser Terry Baker made an appeal through a local radio station, which brought in offers of help from local companies, arranging for 600 yummy Devon cream teas to be served to hungry Mini owners.
