Mini Estate at 50

The Mini estate was launched to a still sceptical public on 16 September 1960, barely 13 months after the saloon. Production started in March 1960 with Austin chassis number 19126 and Morris chassis number 19101. There had been prototypes running around in 1959, complete with wood-framed rear doors. The are identifiable by the square rear windows, like those of the larger Morris Minor Travellers, not the production Van type.
