Rocking up at the rolling road, the first task of the day was to get the barbecue up and running, as it is well known that a Mini doesn't perform well on an empty stomach. After some serious cooing over Paul Inch's newly built Cooper S racer, which made its club debut on the day, after an extensive build project, the SDMC lined Minis up one by one, each eager to ratchet up the highest power output. Taking to the rollers first, there was a nail-biting wait as the club found out whether all of Paul's hard work had paid off and, with a big sigh of relief, it set the first three-figure output of the day, without so much as a splattering of oil on Alan's floor. Each Mini was given a good number of runs to reach its potential, with former Mini racer Alan on hand to offer some expert advice, while the rest of the club watched, enjoying Nan and Pops's handiwork on the barbecue in the meantime.
