Method for testing a fluid power system which has a variable number of sections and a closed guide system (14, 20) for a working medium, each section having at least one segment (14a) of the closed guide system (14, 20), by means of ultrasound, wherein a reference echo pattern of the closed guidance system (14, 20) is compared with a comparison echo pattern of the closed guidance system (14, 20) and a change in the fluid power system is determined if the comparison echo pattern deviates from the reference echo pattern.
