In the not-so-distant past, Minis were everyday cars and it would have been extremely unlikely that it would cross any Mini owner's mind to lay their car up for winter. After all, Minis are one of the best cars to drive in snow. Today, though, with all original Minis now being classics and their values increasing accordingly, it makes a lot of sense to lay up, or partly lay up, your Mini for the winter months. Doing so will avoid any driving in bad weather and will prevent contact with road sa basically rock salt, which is extremely corrosive to mild steel without special inhibitors which are not added by the authorities in the UK.
