摘要

The first thing that greeted my eyes as I stationed myself outside the Admiral's cabin that morning was the small landing craft circling the attack transport in Jinsen (Inchon) Harbor, Korea. The Army Corps, under the command of Lt. General John R. Hodge, Commander of U.S. forces in Korea, was engaged in a formal landing exercise that had begun the previous day and was going ashore at Jinsen when I went topside. The next thing I recall is passing before the ship's Navy and Marine honor guard as the Admiral and his staff were piped off the ship. We boarded the Admiral's barge and were whisked ashore behind the troops who had already taken command on the beach.
