Wings of Freedom Tour

The Collings Foundation's flying museum came to Sacramento, CA, again over Memorial Day weekend on their "Wings of Freedom Tour." This year they brought with them a new addition: a fully restored B-25 Mitchell, adding to the lineup of WWII aircraft which already includes a B-17 Flying Fortress and a B-24 Liberator. The trio arrived on the afternoon of 25 May to an expectant crowd; it was thrilling to hear the roar of those radial engines and to see these 60-year-old-plus warbirds flying above Sacramento's sky- line. The planes had previously completed a flyover during the Veteran's Administration Memorial dedication ceremony at the former Mather AFB in Rancho Cordova.
