While 1945 brought about the end of WWII, it signaled an increase of anticommunist national insurgent activity against imperial Soviet occupation forces throughout Eastern Europe. In the Balkans, however, the communist government of Yugoslavia set up eommunist guerilla training camps all along Greece's border. By 1947, the Balkan commies had a formidable invasion force of well-trained guerilla troops positioned throughout all of northern Greece. Vicious guerilla combat tactics and hardline communist propaganda preceded the communist invasion to totally take over Greece by 1947.
