MILITARY TECHNOLOGY spoke with Helmut Huegle, Head of Soldier Systems EADS Defence & Security, discussing the urgent requirements in Soldier Modernisation Programmes (SMP) around the world.rnMT: What are your current SMP systems and what is happening at the moment on the industrial and commercial front? Huegle: We have delivered 2,200 units of the IDZ-BS to the German Bundeswehr and will most probably have a new contract with an extra 380 units to be delivered in the next three years. We will upgrade this system by components, to enhance its capabilities.
