This is how several Indian papers describe the ongoing competition to supply the Indian Air Force (IAF) with 126 Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft, officially referred to as the MMRCA tender. The Defence Ministry has allocated up to INR 420 billion (some $10.5 billion) for the purchase. Six designs, six philosophies and the world's most respected (multi)national aerospace-industries are competing for this contract, which is India's single largest defence deal ever and the most lucrative fighter-deal currently "out there".
