The Southeast Asian Land Defence Market

In 2009, the defence budget of the 28 Asian countries amounted to U$ 252.8 billion in total. The stocks of armoured vehicles aggregated to 73,570, 18.5% of the world. In the last decade, this quantity almost remained unchanged. The product structure and the stocks of some countries, however, varied, e.g., in China, South Korea, and Singapore. The quantity of MBTs increased by 13% and with 29,075 (39.5%) vehicles is relatively high compared to other regions of the world, and will increase due to new developments and procurement programmes.
