The population is 66% Serb, 17% Albanian, 3.5% Hungarian, 13.5% other (1991 census) Religions: Serbian Orthodox, Muslim, Roman Catholic, Protestant Languages: Serbian (official); Romanian, Hungarian, Slovak, Ukrainian and Croatian (all official in Vojvodina); Albanian (official in Kosovo) Literacy rate: 96.4% NB: All the data above still includes Kosovo, as claimed by Serbia. Long-form or legal name: Republic of Serbia (Republika Srbjia). Type of government: Republic. Administrative divisions: 190 municipalities. NB: The [former] Serbian province of Kosovo (see separate entry) unilaterally declared independence on 17 February 2008. The move is not accepted and recognised by Serbia, which regards Kosovo as an integral part of its national territory.
