Low-observable technology specialist POLYAMP AB is involved with a number of international shipbuilding programmes to suppress electromagnetic signatures of surface warships and submerged platforms. POLYAMP supplies highly innovative products that include advanced degaussing systems, the MSS 2000 magnetic sweep supply system (destroying the influence of sea mines), power supplies, UMISS© (a family of multi-influence sensors designed to measure underwater signatures), and SWECADE© (Swedish Computer Aided Degaussing and Evaluation programme) - a software tool used for magnetic, electric, and pressure signature management. SWECADE was developed in cooperation with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) and represents the latest technology to be able to predict and evaluate non-acoustic underwater signatures of naval ships. POLYAMP also developed a unique patented carbon fibre electrode sensor with very high measurement sensitivity that can measure underwater electric signatures typically emanating from the corrosion of hulls, propellers or other metallic parts of ships that are in contact with salt water - a process that can influence deadly sea mines. The electric field sensor also measures the Extra Low Frequency field (ELFE) of a moving ship that can be used by an opponent for positioning, target evaluation or reconnaissance purposes.
