This year marks the 240th anniversary of women serving in the US Army and following a long and arduous campaign to attain the same rights as men serving in combat roles, it appears this particular fight has almost been won.Those who first signed up to join the Continental Army in 1775 played a critical role supporting male soldiers during the Revolutionary War, performing nursing duties as well as cooking and laundry services.
