CAPTOR-E -Key Enabler to keep Eurofighter TYPHOON at the Forefront of Technology

In an interview with Thomas Mueller, Member of the Executive Committee of Airbus Defence & Space (DS) and Head of the Electronics Business Line, MT was informed about the Eurofighter TYPHOON's latest CAPTOR-E AESA radar and its benefits over M-Scan radars, transfer of technology, the future, and how this technology be exploited for other platforms. MT: As you have delivered and installed the latest generation CAPTOR-E AESA radar on an operating Instrumented Production Aircraft (Eurofighter TYPHOON), where are we, in terms of testing, delivery to the customer, and who will receive it, i.e. what export customers can you name? T. Mueller: Euroradar (the consortium out of Airbus DS, Selex ES in the UK, and Italy, as well as Indra) and the Eurofighter consortium with its industrial partners BAE Systems, Alenia Aermacchi, and Airbus DS in Germany and Spain started full scale development of the E-Scan Radar system in July 2010.
