The armed forces serve directly under the prime minister of Bangladesh, who is also the defense minister.Personnel in the Bangladeshi armed forces number 157,053, in addition to a paramilitary force of 30,000.rnArmy. The Army consists of 132,777 troops and is organized around seven infantry division headquarters, 25 infantry brigades (some 68 battalions), one armored brigade, seven independent armored regiments, 28 artillery regiments, and seven engineer battalions. The 1995 proposal to form the country's first reserve force has been put on hold in the wake of funding shortages.
