Officials at the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command recognized a strong need for advanced technologies capable of thwarting improvised explosive devices (lEDs). For a vehicle-based solution, they turned to ITT Corp. in White Plains, NY.rnITT won a follow-on, fixed-price award, valued up to $1 billion, from the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command. According to the contract, the company will build and deliver up to 15,000 CREW 2.1 Vehicle Receiver Jammers (CVRJs), as well as spares and related equipment.
