Army approaches industry for ideas on developing a vehicle-mounted, sniper-detection sensor system

Army leaders are beginning the process of developing a sensor system mountable to Army tactical vehicles that can detect the presence of enemy snipers and marksmen before the enemy has a chance to shoot.rnThe U.S. Research, Development, and Engineering Command Acquisition Center (RDECOMAC) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., issued a presolicitation notice (W91CRB10R0002) in October for this kind of a vehicle-mounted sensor suite. Few details have emerged thus far on exactly what kinds of technologies the Army wants.
