Rockwell Collins and Elbit to provide night-vision head-up displays

U.S. Navy combat aircraft experts needed night-vision capability for helmet-mounted, head-up displays for high-performance fighter-bomber aircraft. They found their solution at Rockwell Col-lins-ESA Vision Systems, formed by Rockwell Collins and Elbit Systems of America. Officials of the Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md., plan to negotiate a sole-source contract with Rockwell Collins-ESA for Night Vision Cueing and Display (NVCD) Systems that are compatible with different versions of the Navy's Boeing F/A-18 Hornet strike fighter.
