The embedded computing industry has seen a lot of fragmentation over the past several years due to a proliferation of new form factors, industry standards, and high demand for small-form-factor systems for new generations of unmanned vehicles. While this market fragmentation may be true across the board in the embedded computing world, it is not so for high-end aerospace and defense applications, such as radar processing, signals intelligence (SIGINT), and electronic warfare (EW). In these kinds of applications, the consensus clearly is on 3U and 6U VPX.
