摘要

A novel double layer via-less high impedance surface (HIS) has been used as a reflector for a dipole antenna. The structure consists of two layers of metallic patches, where one layer is rotated by 45° with respect to other thus producing an interwoven geometry. This facilitates the HIS to be symmetric and flexible as a reflector for achieving desired performance. The antenna properties with the proposed HIS are compared against two other HIS structures available in the literature, namely single layered structure consisting of metal patches with and without via. The authors also demonstrate the performance improvement by changing the orientation of the dipole with respect to the HIS structure.
