Afrequencies up to around 40 GHz, the vast majority of RF components are supplied in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) packages. Components operating in the un-licensed 60 GHz band and at E-Band will ultimately also be available in SMT packages, but this requires advances in both chip-scale packaging technology and PCB technology.
