In April 2014, China created a committee to oversee the preservation of 20th-century Chinese architectural heritage. The committee is led by Shan Jixiang, curator of the Palace Museum, and was launched by the Cultural Relic Academy. The committee aims to increase public awareness and preservation of modern architecture.
