The newly constructed Gazi Husrev-bey Library opened in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, in January 2014. The library will eventually house a collection of ancient books and more than 100,000 manuscripts that were moved and stored to avoid destruction during the war in Bosnia in the early 1990s. A $9 million donation was used to build the new library, which includes a conservation laboratory and reading rooms where students and scholars can read digital versions of the ancient texts.
