Water quality of some wells in Taiz City (Yemen Republic) and its surroundings

Bacteriological and physicochemical parameters were determined in water samples collected from fifty-one producing wells used for human consumption in Taiz City (Yemen Republic) and its surroundings. Most water samples, especially from private wells, contained a high concentration of total coliforms which greatly exceeded the permissible limits recommended by theWorld Health Organization in 1996. Fecal coliforms were found in the majority of polluted sampled waters (65% of the total of wells examined).
