Getting back to business

An eerie calm surrounded LAX as my shuttle van pulled up to the American Airlines terminal. Without any private vehicles dropping off and picking up passengers at the curb, the early Monday morning traffic was limited to taxis, town cars, shuttles, service vehicles, and police cars. The line atrnthe check-in counter was short, so I moved through quickly. The security line wasn't much longer, although the process seemed more diligent than in the past. The departure gate areas were fairly full, but quiet. The plane had few empty seats, a pleasant surprise in light of the minimal loads most planes had been flying with. After an uneventful flight, we arrived in San Jose and got on with our lives.
