China alumina import prices to slip further on Chalco cut

Chinese import prices for alumina are expected to slip further after Chalco last week announced another reduction in its domestic alumina price, local industry sources said. Chalco lowered its alumina spot sales price to Yuan 2,950 ($373)/mt, effective September 26, representing a drop of 22.4% from the previous price of Yuan 3,800/mt. The price was last revised downwards on September 1, from a previous Yuan 4,900/mt.
