The rapidly quenched Fe_(88-X)Si_(12)B_X alloys with a B content ranging from 4 to 20 at. pct were subjected to prolonged aging at temperatures below 573 K and their microstructure and soft magnetic properties were examined. The alloys containing more than 8 at. pct B had an amorphous phase in the as-quenched state. The low-temperature aging caused crystallization and concurrent change in the soft magnetic properties only in the amorphous alloys with 8 and 10 at. pct B; however, no such age-induced behavior was determined in the amorphous alloys containing more than 12 at. pct B. These results were reasonably interpreted as being associated with changes in the amorphous structure which occurs in the 10 to 12 at. pct B range.
