This paper presents, through the particular study of an open car park with less than 250 parking stands, the successive application steps of the actual French regulations for fire safety engineering. This car park is classified as PS type according to the French regulations for public areas enacted by the Interior ministry. If reference is made to regulations from the Environment ministry, the fire requirements for such an open car park subject to a standard fire curve amount to 90 minutes (R90).
