Eurocode 3, appendix F, gives a formula 9F. 2) for the calculation of the elastic lateral torsional bucking bending moment of beams, loaded with end - monents. The formula is supposed to cover the case of mono - symmetric I sections. Calculations performed with any of the usual methods including finite elements however show that the coefficients C_1 and C_2 given in table F. 1. 1 of Eurocode 3 are inappropriate when the section is mono - symmetric and the bending moments are not uniformly distributed.
