'A Dedicated Contributor for Many Years'

"Mike is a dedicated, committed member of the industry," says Blair Vandivier, president, Benchmark Products (Indianapolis). "Whatever Mike is committed to do receives 100 percent-plus of his attention and effort." The person Vandivier eloquently refers to is Mike Kelly, vice president of ASKO Processing, a Seattle-based electroplater. Kelly is considered one of the founding fathers of the National Association of Surface Finishers (NASF), the proposed unified entity of the American Electroplaters and Surface Finishers (AESF), Metal Finishing Suppliers' Association (MFSA), and National Association of Metal Finishers (NAMF), all headquartered in Washington. He played a major role in spearheading the movement to incorporate all industry events under the Surface Finishing Industry Council (SFIC) umbrella. These efforts, coupled with his various contributions as an active member of SFIC's government affairs and steering committees, past president of NAMF, and other association activities, are being recognized by his selection as one of Metal Finishing's 2005 People of the Year (POY).
