The expectation of rising Chinese copper consumption is still driving the development of mining projects, accordingto Baikal Mining Company (BMC)which is developing the Udokan copper deposit in Russia. "Emerging markets will strongly drive the global growth in copper consumption," Baikal ceo Andrey Varichevtold MB. "China is considered to be a main consumer due to predicted GDP growth, advanced technological progress, improvementin living standard, urbanization growth, and considerable spending on infra structure which will result in increasing consumption of copper percapita," he added.
