摘要

The structure of Murata air spun yarns produced from "normal" fiber and microfiber polyester fiber vis-a-vis is investigated and compared. Yarn structures were studied with an optical microscope equipped with a digital camera. Based on the digitized photographs, structural parameters of yarn such as yarn diameter at normal place, yarn diameter at wrapper fiber place, helix angle made by fiber in normal core body of yarn, helix angle made on the surface, length of wrapping area covered by wrapper fibers, area covered by wrapper fibers, packing fraction and flexural rigidity were studied. The results showed that flexural rigidity of yarn spun from microfiber was lower than that of the normal fiber. The type of fiber affects packing coefficient and wrapper area. The diameter of yarn spun from microfiber was found to be lower than the yam spun from normal fiber.
