Polyester is not only a good apparel fiber, however, it has so many other merits also. Due to its low absorbency, its aesthetic properties decrease. For improving these properties, 4 different 100% polyester samples were taken and scoured by sodium carbonate and then heat set, followed by tested for aesthetic properties like ends/inch and picks/inch, fabric weight (g/m~2), bending length, flexural rigidity and air permeability. Afterwards, each sample was given alkali treatment with different amounts of NaOH and KOH with a constant amount of rapid wetting agent, weight reducing agent and combination of both. Finally, these samples were tested for all the properties tested for gray fabrics. A reduction not only in the ends/inch, picks/inch and fabric weight occurred, but also in bending length and flexural rigidity, while air permeability increases.
