EDANA refutes 'untrue' rumours on sanitary pads and tampons

The Absorbent Hygiene Products Committee (HAPCO) of EDANA, the international association serving the nonwovens and related products industries, has reassured consumers that feminine hygiene products are entirely safe. In a statement issued on 8 October 2008, EDANA members, manufacturers of absorbent hygiene products, refute allegations circulating on the Internet and in e-mails spreading "untrue and alarmist stories" about tampons and sanitary napkins, which include "misinformation" on such aspects as promoting non-usage of tampons or preference of certain types of tampons or sanitary products.
