Le but de cette mise au point est d'évaluer les problèmes méthodologiques posés par cet examen, choix de l'électrode, choix du matériel ; et de poser les indications en fonction de la symptomatologie présentée. Enfin, les auteurs insistent sur l'intérêt de la pH-métrie pour évaluer les thérapeutiques médicamenteuses ou chirurgicales.
