THE 50 YEARS OF THE FOREIGN RELATION DEVELOPMENT OF VIETNAM GENERAL ASSOCIATION OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY

摘要

Vietnam General Association of Medicine and Pharmacy clearly identified its task of carrying out foreign relation activities right at the foundation day on March the 3rd in 1955 in Le Thai To St., Hanoi. This was illustrated by the fact that Dr. Tran Huu Tuoc, the former chief of the Board for Vietnamese Patriotic Nationals living in France, a prestigious physician in Paris during the 40 years of the last century, was appointed as the first president of the Association. It is worth mentioning the background situation in Hanoi. At the time when the capital city was liberated, and the country was still divided, the General Association needed to mobilize doctors from the following areas: 1. Doctors returning from the Resistance War battle fields. 2. Doctors who had been working in different provinces and cities beyond the 17th parallel up North. 3. Doctors who were practicing in the Southern provinces, and 4. Doctors who were Vietnamese nationals living many parts of the world, mostly in France, Europe, and the United States.
