Theory, Observation, and Validation: Commentary on Almond, Kim, Velasquez, & Shute

I wish to congratulate the authors on an interesting article bringing together two topics that are important to the field of testing. Certainly to the reader's loss, some aspects of the exposition came across as not yet fully developed, as if the manuscript had been hurried to press. As such, I will attempt to expand upon underdeveloped aspects of the article in my commentary. I first speculate on the intended conclusion and how well it might have been supported. I then expand on the relationship between content and constructs. Finally, I explore what the main example might tell us about theory-laden observation and its impact on test validation.
