摘要

This paper presents the design of a cutting tool-holding device with controlled oscillations without an external energy source based on a varying machining force, and an experimental analysis involving the influence on the chip shape, tool-wear, chip volume coefficient, and surface roughness. The design of the cutting tool-holding device is based on reducing the dynamic stiffness by allowing one degree of freedom of the cutting tool, either translationally or rotationally. This paper analyses the advantages of such a design, and provides experimental measurement results presenting the advantages of the concept of a partially movable tool holder without an external energy source for application in other machining operations.
