This paper describes the strategy for bringing about a "second magnesium age" by means of the four vehicle modules drive train,. Interior, body and chassis by the se of existing and possible future magnestium components, differentiated according to the time frame and conceivable likelihood of realization. The R&D activities necessary for implementation of the predicted use of Mg are illus- trated by means of example components an projects.
