Molecular alloys are binary or multicomponent solid solutions whose components are organic compounds. Molecular alloys, with a high latent heat of phase transition, offer opportunities in the fields of energy storage and thermal protection where the classic phase change materials (PCMs) do not exist or are difficult to find. The molecular alloys as phase change materials (MAPCMs) originality relies on the idea of an alloy. They are thermo-adjustable materials by means of their composition. The use of MAPCMs allows adjusting the range of phase transition to no matter what temperature. In this respect, MAPCMs are superior to the classic PCMs. The MAPCMs provide new solutions in many industrial sectors as thermal protection in buildings (for example, air heating and cooling systems) and for the transportation at a controlled temperature of perishable products (for example, medical supplies or food).
