摘要

Coupling beams represent an essential structural member for reduction of the bending momentand increased energy dissipation capacity in a coupled shear wall. Flat plate structural systemsare frequently used for calculation of floor height and room space. In this study, the effects ofreinforced concrete coupling beams with respect to flat plate structural systems are discussed.Additionally, the coupling beam and slab size for use in flat plate structural systems areinvestigated. Examined parameter variables include beam width, slab width and slab thickness.Non-linear three-dimensional finite element analyses have been effectively employed in thedevelopment of a design equation for the calculation of effective slab width.
