An ABS/PLA biomass alloy with high physical properties, whose density, flexural modulus, tensile strength, and melt index (MI) are 1360 Kg/m(3), 2.9 GPa, 55.4 MPa, and 4.1 g/10 min (230 degrees C/2.16 Kg), respectively, has been prepared by the appropriate prescription of ABS, PLA, antioxidant (i.e. AO 1010), compatibilizer (i.e. SMA), and filler (i.e. BaSO4). To investigate the feasibility for the housing of audio device, we have also manufactured an assembled loudspeaker with the ABS/PLA biomass alloy by injection molding technique and then actuated it with resembling frequency response to the wooden loudspeaker. Experimental results manifest that lab-made ABS/PLA biomass alloy with qualified density, excellent mechanical characteristics, and good processibility is a highly potential biomass composite for the housing of acoustic apparatus.
