To enhance the corrosion resistance of Q235 mild steel, nano-MoS2 was used as an accelerator for the zinc phosphate coating. The effect of nano-MoS2 on the phase composition, morphology, and corrosion resistance of the coating was investigated. The experiments showed that nano-MoS2 particles acted as nucleation sites for phosphate crystals to capture metallic ions and achieve a uniform and dense phosphate coating. The corrosion resistance of the steel was significantly improved by the phosphate crystal barrier against the contact between the substrate and corrosive media. (C) 2019 Published by Elsevier B.V.
