Novel [Zn(4-MPipzcdtH)_2] (CH_3COO)_2 • 2HDA(4-MPipzcdtH = 4-methylpiperazine-1-carbodithioic acid and HDA = hexadecylamine), a nano crystalline coordination complex using hexadecylamine as capping agent has been obtained by simple chemical route in methanol-toluene medium. It was characterized by EDS, DLS, FE-SEM, XRD, NMR, FTIR, UV-visible and thermal studies. Elemental composition given by EDS was in accordance with theoretical values. Particle size observed from DLS and XRD was in the range 27 nm to 2 nm. TG showed single step decomposition corresponding to 81% weight loss and 19% as final residue due to zinc oxide as shown by XRD analysis of TG residue. UV-visible spectrum gave sharp peak at 261 nm. Formation of nano [Zn(4-MPipzcdtH)_2] (CH_3COO)_2·2HDA was evident from FTIR and ~1H NMR spectra. Catalytic efficacy was checked for conversion of benzaldehyde to benzoic acid and yield of product was 100%. Photocatalytic dye degradation activity for congo red and rodamine G6 were 100% in time span of 2 hours at pH 7. Antibacterial activity was checked against Staphylococcus epidermidis and Klebsiella pneumoniae and MIC was found to be 50 μg/ml. Lipase activity was determined against triacylglycerol lipase and activity decreased from 40.61 to 22.45 μmol/ml/min.
