Reliable fire safety in accordance with new EU standards: Fire protection with autoclaved aerated concrete masonry

Up to now, the fire protection function of building components was covered by DIN 4102-4. Following the introduction of the European design standards and their adoption into building control, fire protection will no longer be covered by one single standard for all construction methods, but in separate parts for the various construction methods and materials. For masonry - including autoclaved aerated concrete masonry - the relevant provisions are contained in DIN EN 1996-1-2 in combination with the associated national appendix. This fire protection part of Eurocode 6 was published as a white paper in June 2013. With this standard, the existing German fire protection status relating to masonry has been transferred almost unchanged into the new generation of standards.
