Energy-efficient newbuild with massive, highly insulated building envelope

A couple in their best years just started once again and had built their second house before the start of their retirement, which is impressive inside and out with its ultra-modern, minimalistic design. The designer has succeeded in combining a living concept suitable for elderly people with an optimised energy programme, which will comply with the standards of the current German energy-saving regulations EnEV without problems. The basis for this is provided by the good building physical properties of the massive, highly thermally insulated building envelope of Ytong aerated concrete blocks. This enabled the omission of an external wall insulation system. Nonetheless, the owners can expect low energy costs for many years.
