Domestic shipyards in Egypt are set to benefit from an order for four new Voith Water Tractors (VWT) for Alexandria Port Authority. The order involves two 55tbp and two 40tbp tugs, the more powerful pair powered by twin 1,920kW diesel engines driving VSP 28R5/210-2 Voith Schneider Propellers with Voith VSP 26R5/195-2 units, powered by two 1,370kW main engines driving the second pair. Length and beam of the two larger units will be 35m and 11.5m respectively with the corresponding figures for the two smaller tugs coming in at 29m and 9.5m. All four will have top speeds of 13 knots.
