Van Voorden in Zaltbommel, the Netherlands, has designed and produced a new, very low noise type of propeller especially for mega yachts and passenger ships. The blades of the propeller are very strongly curved (cambered), especially in the middle part of the blade. The curve makes sure that the water is following the blade better, hence less cavitation. "We have tested the new designed type of propeller on a mega yacht and during this test, the noise did not exceed 47 dB.
