Dutch pilotage christens three environmentally friendly vessels

The Dutch pilotage employs about 470 registered pilots who annually handle 90.000 shipping movements. These pilots act as advisor to the master and, with the master's permission, are in charge of naviqation on board a ship.rnThe company has taken three new vessels into service. These vessels were christened at the end of September during a ceremony by mrs. Erahoutan (wife of the mayor of Rotterdam), mrs. De Vries (wife of the harbourmaster ofrnRotterdam) and mrs. d'Have (wife of Captain Jacques d'Have, Agency of Maritime Services and Coast Flanders). The jet driven tenders use special techniques that mini-malise the amount of toxic emissions. They were built in Seattle by Kvichak Marine Industries.
